Both nursing and paramedical courses lead to hospital jobs ? but they take very different paths. Here's a straight-talking comparison to help you decide.
1. What each one actually does
Nursing is patient-centric: your primary job is direct patient care, medication and continuous ward monitoring. Paramedical is procedure- or equipment-centric: you run labs, operate imaging machines, assist surgeries, or manage dialysis.
2. Course duration and cost
GNM nursing takes 3?3.5 years. B.Sc Nursing takes 4 years. Most paramedical diplomas take 1?2 years, and certificate courses take 6 months to 1 year ? at a fraction of the fees.
3. Job market
Both roles are in demand. Nursing has larger volume; paramedical roles like OT tech, dialysis and radiography are seeing the fastest growth, especially for Gulf jobs.
